Of all natural forms the sand dunes are the most elegant - so simple, severe, bare. Nature in the nude. Nothing can mar for long their physical integrity. Broken down by foot traffic or machines, the sand is reformed by the winds into fresh new dunes, formally perfect, advancing with the winds across the desert, where nothing but mountain ridge can halt their progress. (From: Ed Abbey, Desert Images). Pictures taken at Pismo Dunes Landmark, California.
Aperture priority, matrix metering. Scanned by Nikon CoolScan IV-ED. Hue of all three pictures was slightly adjusted to common denominator. Using curves contrast of all three pictures was also unified to some degree. Sharpened by unsharp mask 55%, radius 2 pix. Dominant edges additionally hand sharpened using sharp brush.

Yes, all 3 are beautiful, but I love the geometry of this one. A very open S shape between two straight non parallel lines and the meeting between one line and the S. Color contrast is adding force to it.

Really very beautiful abstract shot of the sand dunes. Use of the tripod allowed you to carefully capture the contours of the ridges.

This scene is so surreal. In fact, it almost seems as though the top is falling over on to the bottom... I am getting a serious 3D effect here! You could call it an abstract just as well as calling it a landscape. Good work! My favorite of the three.
