Photographer's Note

This is one of the cobble stone streets in Old San Juan at night. The chain suggests that you cannot reach the gold for it is close out of reach.

The "adoquines" or cobble stones are the former ballast brought from Spanish ships which returned with a cargo of gold from Mexico. Puerto Rico was their hub for the New World. Ships from Spain came to Old San Juan and distributed their cargo before continuing to Mexico or other larger destinations in the New World. The adoquines of Old San Juan are actually a light sky blue color during the day.
