Photographer's Note
Location: Christmas Meadows on the north side of the Uinta Mountains, Utah.
Elevation: 8,790 feet (2679 meters)
About the Photo: I camped over night at a campground at the edge of this meadow. It rained all night long, but cleared up just before it started to get light. As I walked to this spot in the meadow the damp vegetation soaked my feet to the bone in about 15 seconds (I guess I should have worn waterproof boots). There was a large bull moose just to the right of the frame as I took this picture. I was hoping he might come and pose in the river or something, but he stayed by the edge of the meadow. Still, it was nice to have him as company on this beautiful "frozen feet" morning.

I like the level of detail recorded in the vegetation and the purples so typical to velvia.Worth the frozen feet I'd say.I would be interested to know how you scan your velvia as I am having problems with sharpness and details which look pretty good here.

Hi Ryan,
this is my first visit to your site, I was transfixed by the beautiful light, color and detail you captured in your well-framed compo with the lovely lake reflections leading the eye back to their source in the sky. I didn't realize there were moose this far south but since thery're just north in Jackson and Yellowstone, they would be here as well.

You've got the scanning down well. I thought this was digital before I read the details.
Thanks for taking us there with you by means of the note.
Thanks also for your reply to and workshop on my photo "Climbing Uluru/Ayers Rock".

I like the composition but the colors are what really strike me. Nice catch and hopefully worth the effort to get there.

This is outstanding, Ryan. (If the moose had cooperated, it would have been just too incredible.) Soft greenery, soft light, soft reflections--it's all so well unified! It was worth the frozen feet. Regards, Ken.

Hi Ryan.
Des teintes somptueuses dans ce cie ciel et dans ce superbe reflet.
J'aime bien ce premier plan de verdure, dans une trčs faible lumičre et la superbe dof avec dans le fond ces montagnes enneigées.
Trčs belle ambiance.

I love this composition. The stream of water really does it for me. And the colors are just perfect. I am a bit lazy to get up before dawn but in the Winter I usually do it (since the sun wakes later). And the smell, the violet hue and the dark greens, all that I remember from those early hours. Your picture really has a lot of that mood. I have just a minor point concerning the amount of shadows in the photo. I guess you could have just waited a bit more to record more light. The tree on the left is almost unnoticeable.

Absolutely wonderful composition. These early pre-sunrise shots are the best. The image has great pull to take the eyes from the foreground along the stream to the distant mountain.
I have been looking at your shots and am very impressed. You have a great talent, I look forward to seeing your images.
Oh, the moose never co-operate; I've never been able to get them to pose in the middle of a wonderful scene like this.
Keep on shooting.

Hi Ryan!
This one was beautiful as well. A little darker than the previous picture but, the place looks really nice. I will consider Utah one of many places if I ever is to visit US.

What a wonderful morning shot! It reminds me a lot of one I took in Iceland at the glacier... (goes to look for it to upload here in the next few days :D)
The serenity is ever-present and the wonderfully lushious green on the bushes beneath is tantalizing :D
Oh, how I would have loved to be there (even with the wet feet :P)
TFS!
