Photographer's Note
Location: Christmas Meadows on the north side of the Uinta Mountains, Utah.
Elevation: 8,790 feet (2679 meters)
About the Photo: This photo was taken the same morning as this photo.
The sun had been up for about 30 minutes in this photo, but hadn't yet come up in the other one. Here’s another photo from this same location taken in the Autumn. I would love to know which of these three photos you think is the best version.
Along with the neutral density grad filter, I also used a circular polarizer.

Hi Ryan.
Saturation is strong but not exagerated here, and the colors are so beautiful, so contrasting...peaceful and beautiful.

Excellent intensity of the colours here. Your thumnail is next to mine, and stealing all the glory! : )
Seriously you were well rewarded by getting out early, the image is peaceful, and provides a landscape that I often forget to associate with the USA.

Hello Ryan,
Beautiful shot with such beautiful bright colours! I love the reflection of the mountains in the water with the surrounding bright green colours. The beautiful blue sky above is also a fantastic addition to this photo! Excellent work!
I like the one taken the same morning as the purplish hue is fantastic. But all three shots are fantastic, it's hard to pick one that's the best version!

Ann

Your choice of frame is good but when you have got such a spectacular & crystal clear shot, why do you need the support of frames? I disagree.

Hi Ryan
What beautiful greens and blues in this scenery. The still stream heading off towards the mountains adds depth and I like the reflection in it. The isolated tree on the left adds balance and the sky is great with those clouds.

The composition is still the same, still very beautiful. The light is completly different, more bright, more pure. I love this one also. It's the fresher of the set. When can really feel morning with this picture of yours. I like this set a lot!

Hi Ryan,
In one of my fav is your first post of this place, which has magical light in it.
I don't see that here, but also this one is excellent taken. But hey, it's Velvia, no wonder we see deep green and blue. There are dark parts on the left, but i know how difficult scanning is from this wonderful film. You did a great job here, i like this one a lot. Would pay a dollar if i could take such an image myself ;-)
Breathtaking scene in an excellent composition...great work..!!!

Like the other ones from this same location, your composition here is absolutely brilliant!
I personally prefer the one taken just before sunrise... :D but all three are simply wonderful! :D The colors are deep and rich here, which is lovely! :D yet there is a harshness already which was not present some 30 minutes before :D
Thanks for sharing yet another great picture from this location!
Kind regards,
Julia

Hi Ryan,
For me all 3 photos are excellent in their own ways but if you put a gun on my head, then I would have to choose this one ;) I find the strength and density of the lights and colors are just right, it really gives me a sunny feel! And of course the mountains and its reflections are the icing for this picture. TFS!

Hi Ryan!
I finally decided to stop by on one of your (amazing)landscapes photos! Ok, first I prefer this one than the autumn version (it was a close call though) because this one makes me feel like laying down on this comfortably looking grass and sleep... till the autumn version unfolds , hehe. I can't really talk about the technical things as I'm not so good at that but what I can say is that this photo makes me feel like taking a deep breath and start walking aimlessly, just walking... I might be biased by the fact that where I am (in Afghanistan) it's just rocks, rocks, rocks everywhere, no trees, shrinking pastures... So this one is a nice contrat! Thanks for making me travel!
Keep well!
Vincent
