Photographer's Note
Once again - my lucky day, when I met the rainbow over the Mountain Valley. This time I decided not to reduce the noise in the sky, perhaps it is better.
Monument Valley provides perhaps the most enduring and definitive images of the American West. The isolated red mesas and buttes surrounded by empty, sandy desert have been filmed and photographed countless times over the years for movies, adverts and holiday brochures. Because of this, the area may seem quite familiar, even on a first visit, but it is soon evident that the natural colours really are as bright and deep as those in all the pictures. The valley is not a valley in the conventional sense, but rather a wide flat, sometimes desolate landscape, interrupted by the crumbling formations rising hundreds of feet into the air, the last remnants of the sandstone layers that once covered the entire region.

Hi Henryk
This is a proof that you stopped taking pictures and you started painting with your camera. The photo looks like an illustration from a childrens fairytale book. This is not a scenery any more, its a scene with perfectly set light and shadows. Absolutely perfect photo.

Magnifient, Henryk. The composition is great, especially the whole rainbow and the "monuments." The lighting is great. I played with a noise filter and it does knock down the noise, but I lost some of the details in the rocks. You might try it on a low level on the full sized photo, though.

Pure magic, you can aalso add this to the decisive moment category, what an eye popping sight, you could easily make $ out of this, not using a noise filter was the right choice in this case.

Hello Henryk,
What a magical photograph.
You were probably lucky to take this picture but without the photographer's vision, skill and sang froid, it wouldn't certainly have been so good.
You were right not to reduce the noise, it reinforces the rain effect that suits the dramatic atmosphere.
Wonderful.

I had to go to the bottom of a very long line to add a critique to this one, Henryk. I'm glad I chanced upon your work again. I noticed you were one of the initial critiquers of my work when I first joined up several years ago. So I thought I'd do a virtual visit.
This is magnificent: the clarity of the rainbow, the lighting on the monuments, the shimmering, sulky clouds beneath that prismatic arc. I like the way you fit the whole arc in the frame. It was luck, perhaps, to see this moment, but fine skill in the execution.
Regards again,
Jim
