Photographer's Note
This is my second post from Luray Caverns. I took it a few weeks ago with my new lens even if it wasn't that long of hand-held shot I'm sure the vibration reduction helps with the sharpness all the time. Luray Caverns is the most popular caverns around me and it is located in the Shenandoah Valley and all of the rock is limestone.
I thought this shot had an underworld look to that looks a little spooky actually. I hope everyone else likes it too. I plan on posting a couple more yet from here and I will integrate people into those shots.

Good colors Stephen
The shapes are very varied to form a suspended forest of stones.
I am looking forward your other shots.

Well Stephen it does look like a different world from the caves down under... Fantastic shapes and shadow highlights on these amazing shapes inside the cave. I like this one better than the first one you posted. Looks like an artistic work...very nice!!

Hi Stephen,
I love this low light shot, for a hand held shot, the clarity is excellent. It really has a mysterious feel to it.

You are certainly doing well to handhold such long exposures. This shot really conveys that mystery of the underworld you talk about. Very good light management. Did you up the ISO?

Hi Steve,
You get less warm and provide a different impression with this wider framing, but it's nice as well, 1/13, steady guy Mr Nikkor ;-)
Have a nice week end,

A nice impression from underworld again, Steve. Good sharpness and nice how the disposition of lights in the cave gives these different grades of color and textural detail.

Hi Stephen,
You really nailed the exposure level on this one. I like the pure golden look of the stalagmites and the overall sharpness. I take it that you have the Nikon equivalent of what Canon users call Image Stabilization on your new lens. This really extends your ability to obtain great sharpness in situations where a tripod is not available or inconvenient...The tones and lighting here are superb, Steve. Very well done.

Great shot, especially considering it was handheld. I guess that VR really works! The shapes and forms of the cave are shown very well here, with lots of incredible detail. The colours work out very well too. Beautiful!

Hi Stephen - the lighting has brought out the fascianting textures quite well, this would make an interesting desktop wallpaper, I made a WS just to experiment.

Bonjour Stephen,

Hi Steve,
The excellent detail and color you've captured illustrate well why these caverns are so popular; the DOF and lighting give the sense of being there. Stunning!!

Uh,
I though you'll never post another photo of the cave (after your last post), but fortunately - I was wrong!
Amazing work of nature and great textures thanks to both your lens and well though lighting within the cavern.
