Photographer's Note
Location: Lake Blanche in the Twin Peaks Wilderness Area, with Sundial Peak in the background.
About the Photo: After having seen many good photos of this place posted here on TE by dbyounster, I finally forced myself to make the 6.6 mile round trip hike up to Lake Blanche to try and get some photos of my own. I arrived an hour and a half before sunset, but unfortunately this was the only sunlight I ever saw on the mountains because there was a thunderstorm on the horizon blocking the sun for the rest of the evening. The trip wasn't a total loss because even though I didn't come away with the awesome sunset shots I was hoping for, I did run into two really cute girls on my way back down the trail (which I thought was weird since I only saw three other people the entire time). Oh, and scenery wasn’t bad either.

Hi Ryan
You managed to get the balance perfectly her. Good soft light, which is obligatory, nice colours, good framing and a good composition. The colours and light are gorgeous. Great work.

Hi Ryan, a truly excellent shot. The colours including the colour of the rock in the foreground, the reflection, the lighting, the composition, everything perfect. First class work, very well done and enjoy the rest of the week.
Dean.
*I have turned off the points system so can't give smileys but very well done*

Hi Ryan
The lighting here is fabulous - who needs a sunset when you have this? The colours are just gorgeous and the compo is excellent too, with great sharpness and clarity throughout.

Bonsoir Ryan,

Good use of the ND grad to hold detail in the shadows. Great dof also. Composition great. You weren't the one who fell off the trail a couple of weeks ago were you? Need to watch where you're going down that trail.

Very nice...I've wanted to go here so many times...I've got to get away from work.
Very nice picture, great description, almost perfect exposure...if I wanted to b*tch about the image I'd complain about the lens distortion, the lack of *perfect* reflection in the water because of the short shutter speed, etc. But that would make any difference in the image.
You have done very well...it's a shame I can only give 2 points.

As a lover of stunning landscape this picture fullfills my taste. The vertical choice seems to the right here by underlying the tall rock in the bg that is also being reflected in the lake. The colors and texture of the fg is quite interesting. Not sure if it isn't dominating a little bit too much the picture.

Hello Ryan. Very good composition. The point of view is good. But the best part of your photo is the light and the reflexions on water. The effect of the water in the photo is great, and your exposition is very good for this time. Very sharp photo too. Good work.

Amazing Ryan! The inclusion of that foreground rock makes all the difference. It lends an amazing depth to the photo and lets the viewer have a proper feel of the distance involved in the frame. That’s exactly how I would have captured it ;) The middle layer with that refection is amazing. And so is the mountain in the background. You really pulled perfection out of that ND. I can’t sense the minimum darkness in the mountain top. Did you just use it horizontally? Perfect colors and perfect sharpness. Very very good!

Ryan,
Yet another solid entry into your TE portfolio. Good subject and color. I really like the lighting and detail of the foreground rocks. I'd like to see more of this shot. Did you shoot vertical here or crop from the sides?

Once again on the spot. So you are experimenting the perspective of your Sigma...I just love wide angles, and I see you know how to use it,

Serwus Ryan !
No waste of space in this frame at all. The tight framing is essential here, depth is outstanding and light brilliantly rendered. Stunning spot, indeed.
Best wishes,

Hi Ryan. Marvellous photos in your gallery. This one attracted my attention because of its bright colours and interesting PoV. The bluest sky reflected in the water is lovely and made even more noticeable thanks to the reddish tones of the rock in the foreground. And the yellow in the distance and reflected in the water is a special touch.Great shot. Regards. Klaudio

All your lanscape photos are stunning. This one is no exception. Not only the color of the skies but also vivid rusty colored rocks are amazing. TFS.

Hi Ryan:
I'm somewhat surprised to see that I haven't commented on this one yet. Fabulous shot of one of my favorite places but least favorite hikes in Utah. I think the use of the wide angle was good here--it makes the place feel bigger (and of course you don't get that ridiculously tight crop that most people get when they try to shoot the reflection as well). The thing I lke most are the colors in this shot though. With the clouds blocking most of the sunlight, the colors are very soft, even though they're not vibrant. Nice job. It almost makes me want to do that hike again. :)
