Photographer's Note

This the second photo taken last Sunday at the edge of San Francisco bay on the shoreline at Point Richmond. In the distance is the fog flowing over the headlands of Marin County as it passes the Golden Gate Bridge. In the distance, beneath the cloud bank you see a stone breakwater that separates this area from the larger bay. The structure in the foreground, if I'm not mistaken, is a breakwater built to protect the light industrial development to the left. This photo was taken early evening, perhaps forty-five minutes before the sun set, producing the warm luscious colors at the shoreline and on the breakwater.

As I mentioned with yesterday's introduction to this small series of images, the fog that invades the bay often during summer months gives us very mild weather during June and July. Our warmest weather doesn't arrive until September and October when breezes come from the Central Valley and blow toward the ocean. Right now nature's air conditioning is working well and we're enjoying sunny days with temperatures in the high sixties and low seventies. I'm certainly very happy to call this region home.
