Photographer's Note
A game of chess being played on the sidewalk on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley--shot from the hip, with guess focus and composition. This was one of my first shots taken with my new (old) Canonet rangefinder. I inadvertently included a self-portrait in this shot (reflection in window). As you can see, I wasn't composing through the viewfinder or even facing my subject. This often leads to screwed up shots, but in this case it allowed me to capture the scene naturally.

Dear Sam, great "snapshot". I guess not many of us have seen a "drawn" (what a wordgame) chessgame. Very well seen. The reflection with you and the cam is also interesting.

Your picture it´s not about a beautiful sunset or a wonderful dawn, that´s why I liked much more. It has live within and that what´s count mainly for my. Congratulation from madrid.
