Photographer's Note
ENGLISH: Some days I love my job! Yesterday it took me to Goulburn in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. Goulburn is an inland city about 2 hours drive south-west of Sydney. In this photo is Goulburn Courthouse which is situated in Montague Street. The building is extremely impressive, even to the lawyers who frequent the place!
The courthouse was designed by the colonial architect James Barnet in the Italianate style and constructed by David Jones, who had recently completed the Bathurst Courthouse. The Bathurst Courthouse bears striking similarities to that of Goulburn's. It was opened in 1887 by the Chief Justice at the time. The gallows once stood in the forecourt area for public hangings. Since the establishment of Goulburn and prior to the construction of this courthouse, a gaol stood on this site, then an old courthouse and also a morgue, which is still located at the rear of the building. The building still hosts sittings of the Local, District and Supreme Courts.

Hello Lisa,
A fine capture of this impressive Victorian courthouse. The black and white works well, suiting the mood and making good use of the lovely sky. The foreground flower bed is well included to slightly soften the straight lines of the building and counter balance the dome. If I were to be picky, I would like the see the perspective straightened - just one of my little foibles.

Ciao Lisa,
the B&W toning here is a great choice the contrasts are not to much tuned. The POV was very well composed.
Thanks for sharing and for the interesting information, too.
Have a great day.

Hi Lisa,
Great representation of our grand courthouses dotted throughout our State. Your B&W verticle adds so much character to this building. Listening carefully, I believe I can just hear a Rumpold tirading some poor old witness. Good note. TFS. Great job you have :) You have reminded me of some fantastic old gaols such as Bathurst which has a huge sandstone lion bust (with a large key in its mouth) sitting over the main entrance gate. By the way, great clouds over your court house shot:)
Cheers, Graham.

Hello Lisa,
It must be quite a dreadful scene to have the gallow in front of the courthouse, a clear warning to criminals and offenders! I reckon it is a good idea and should be put back to all the present courthouses. Thanks for the interesting info.
The little round garden bed in the FG is doing a lot of good to your composition and the building does portray its grandeur and authority as a courthouse, but I would very much like to view the entire building, if it is possible to get such a POV.
TFS

Ciao cara Lisa,

Hi Lisa, reading your response to Alfred; what a shame you didn't have your WA lens with you. I think a landscape view from close to the round garden would work well. Not that there's anything wrong with this one. cheers, Steve

ciao Lisa,
giochi in casa con questo bel bianco e nero...
Mi piace molto il cielo e un POV leggermente basso che esalta l'edificio.
Spero tu stia bene.
Un caro saluto

Hi Lisa,
It's is a great attitude you have about your job, and that is a wonderful situation. It would be a shame to be going to work and hating it. Off course we all need a break from it times and again but when we do have to,I do hope that people are at least have a good attitude about it. It make the day goes by faster and we do a better job at it.
Good shot, using the vertical format to show depth, beautiful cloud formation, good quality and well composed. B&W is always a classic.

Hi Lisa, Very nice beautiful composition very good contrast and sharpness. Old buildings have always been fascinating as they were built to put on display the dominance of their rulers, with lots of time and money at their disposal. Modern architectural art has squeezed to the monitory viability of the builder.
