Photographer's Note
TECHNICAL: I posted this photo months ago and didn't like it so took it off. I didn't like how I'd blown the background out in order to give the detail in shadow of the tree and what was hanging in it. Now I've become slightly more proficient with PS, I thought I'd have another crack at it. So here it is.
THE PLACE: This is the back road from Yeovale to Cumnock NSW. About 5 hours West of Sydney near Molong.
The area has beautiful farming land, orchards, canola (rapeseed) and produces excellent livestock, despite the drought or floods that are hitting most of rural Australia.
As to why there's a bicycle hanging from countless trees along the road, I can tell you that it's to advertise the local art exhibition "On Yer Bike".
A perfect reason to hang a bike out of a tree if you ask me.

Ciao Lisa. I like the tongue-in-cheek flavour of your note and of course the image. After the Sydney Olympics' opening ceremony I presume the world has ceased to be surprised about the quirkiness of the Australian psyche.I like the gentle contours and colours of the landscape. Saluti LDNR.Klaudio.

Lisa,
Way to go - looks wonderful. Right up my alley. I'd have to decorate like a Christmas tree if it were me.
Regards!

Hi Lisa, You know, even without the bike I think this image would work, with the large trees overlooking the road meandering off into the distance. Thinking as I'm typing - I think I might have almost preferred it that way - or perhaps that's the cyclist in me :-) (BTW - what is LDNR?). cheers, steve

Jolie pointe d'humour dans cette image clin d'il et façon originale pour annoncer l'exposition. Bien vu!

Hi Lisa,
Beside the creative idea to hang up a bicycle for advertising purpose, I like the posture of these old trees too, beautiful grey trunks, good pov and perspective effect to show the surrounding relaxing environment too, good shoot.

Hello Lisa,
An interesting way of getting rid of old bicycles ;-) I like the photo and the quirky sense of humour attached to the story.

Hi Lisa,
Funny shot, well seen and well captured. My first thought was: those Aussies are really crazy, they grow bikes in their trees... ;o)
Lovely composition with the road included. Great framing, too.
Great job, thanks for sharing!
Best,
Claudia

Hi Lisa,
Ha, funny shot, I've been out to Molong, just the sort of thing you'd expect to see around them there parts.
Aren't Gum trees beautiful, reminds of the watercolours "Albert" used to paint.
The countryside is surprisingly green. I like your composition, the trees dominating the frame look spectacular, nice work.
Cheers

Ciao Lisa,
Buona giornata
