Photographer's Note
Whitehaven Beach is on the eastern side of Whitsunday Island, just off the Queensland coast and sheltered by the Great Barrier Reef. It is nearly 6km long and its dazzling white sand is over 98% pure silica. (and makes a nice "skooching" noise when you walk on it.)
