Photographer's Note
With the closure of many rural railway lines throughout South Australia many wonderful old stations are now slowly decling and falling into decay.
This is the Burra Railway Station, built in 1883. A once proud structure, it's now rather run down and in need of the National Trust to step in and limit any further degradation.
Burra is in the Mid North of South Australia, a day trip from Adelaide. The town grew to prominece and prosperity following the discovery of copper in the mid 1800's.
Little post processing was need. Some adjustments to Levels and Unsharp Mask. It was a great day for photography.

Great colour and texture in this once proud old building, David. We have similar scenes in the South African Karoo. Good sharpness and definition. One can almsot hear the wind whistling through the broken window panes...nice work! Regards,
Ryno

Hello David,
It does look in a very sorry state, but, on the other hand, it does make for a very interesting photo with all those great textures that you have captured so well. Good strong colours with a vivid blue sky that seems to emphasise the dereliction somehow.

Hi Dave,
Great composition! Like the colours and textures and the railway line leads the eye into the distance nicely. It's a pity that so many of these lines and stations are no longer in use. Well done and TFS :-)
Cheers Tina

Hi Dave,
It is sad that this railway station is in such decline. It would have been glorious in its day. Your photo of it is superb. Great POV with the eye being lead up the track. The patchy red roof contrasts well with the perfect blue sky. The image is nice and sharp and therefore all the detail of the peeling paint and the stone walls can be seen clearly. Thank you so much for sharing.
Cheers,
Debbie

Having an abandoned building with that much color is really striking to me.

As I've said before on this website, I love the old train stations. This is a beautiful rendering of one, and the contrast between the fresh blue sky and the drab faded paint is particularly well done.
