Doorway Sunset, a photo from South Australia, West

Photographer's Note

Sunset at Doorway Rock, Robe, South Australia, about 300 kilometres south east from Adelaide. A favourite place of mine, and you can see why. Doorway Rock has many moods, and I have featured it in previous posts.

This picture is a Scan via my Epson RX700 of a photo taken in the early 1980's, using an Olympus OM2 with Zuiko 50mm lens.

Being old and faded it required a little help from Photoshop, needing some adjustments to Levels, a touch of Saturation, and quite a bit of Clone Tool to remove all the spots. Finally Unsharp Mask at 1 pixel.

Hi David.
A nice framing for a sunset. Although the noise in the shot is a bit distracting. I made a WS that cleaned up a bit.

Hi david,
Good to see some old shots being uploaded too, before the digital age!
Good shot, little flare and I am sure the original has less noise. Keeping this in mind I think it's a well executed shot.

Hi Dave,
I like the way you captured the sunset coming through the hole in the rock, I wonder if it has eroded away more since the 80's. I like Robe too however it has been quite a few years since I have visited there and I don't remember this view. Nice. Thank you for sharing.

Nice shot! I like the composition with the silhouetted rock. The muted brown and green colours are great too. The noise is a bit distracting but considering its an old photo and scanned its ok. TFS :-) Cheers Tina

Nice compo with interesting textures. I like this motion of the sea. Not frozen but not smooth as in long expo shots.
