Photographer's Note

The process by which these limestone outcrops were formed is unclear; there are three possibilities, a couple involving ancient trees/roots and another which is to do with the erosion of all but the hardest of a layer of limestone, formed from seashells.

In any case, it makes a strange place, with these formations scattered over a wide area, in Nambung National Park, a couple of hours drive north of Perth.
