Photographer's Note
Molong is a very small country town about 300kms north-west of Sydney in New South Wales, with a population of about 1,700 people. Its little town has alot of late Victorian architecture and of course its fair share of pubs, the Telegraph Hotel being one of them. This shot seemed very typical of an Australian country town - especially with the utility parked in front.
Molong was founded in the 1830s. It's now known for its fertile farmland: growing wheat, fruit and vineyards and also running fat lambs, sheep and cattle.

Hi Lisa.
The use of the sepia gives this a timeless look, as if it were from the 1940s or 50s. I appreciate the value of the full-on shot of the pub, but I think the shot would have been a little more pleasing if you had moved to a position where the ute was a little more to the left. Also, it's somewhat over-exposed, leaving a large expanse of almost pure white. Of course, in the bright sun the exposure of this scene would have been very difficult. You need to get your camera's exposure reading from the brightly lit road or the top of the building and then recompose the scene. Then, later, in your software, adjust the shaded area of the image to lighten it without further lightening the brightest parts. In Photoshop you would do this with layers or by lassooing the road and sky to make a selection, inverting the selection, and then adjusting the selected darker bits to lighten them. This would be preferable to darkening the already burnt areas. But perhaps you already know all this. Anyway, it's a good photo that appeals to me, and we don't see many like it on TE.
Regards,
Andrew

Looks a bit overexposed on the foreground and the ute is too centred in the composition. However, the sepia conversion adds an old mood to the shot which goes along well with the Victorian architecture of the country hotel.
I really love those country hotels. They usually offer great steaks!!!
Where in Australia do you live? Let me guess, in Sydney!

Lisa, this feels like a middle of nowhere which I like! If that was your intention behind this photo, well done. As mentioned before here, the use of sepia was the right choice. On a slightly more critical note, the guy in the left could have been left out of frame - this can be easily fixed with some cropping. regards, Pawel
