Photographer's Note
ENGLISH: St Saviour's Cathedral is situated in Church Street, Goulburn (original name for a street eh?). It has been a place of worship for Anglicans (Church of England) since the 1830s. The cathedral was designed in the Gothic style by Edmund Blacket in 1874, who was probably our most famous architect.
Blacket designed churches mostly in 2 styles of Gothic: English (for smaller churches) and Perpendicular (for grander buildings such as St Saviour's). He is responsible for the design of many of New South Wales' (particularly Sydney's) most beautiful buildings such as St Paul's, Burwood (1872), St Stephen's, Newtown (1874), All Saints', Woollahra (1874), St Peter's, East Maitland (1882), St Thomas's, North Sydney (1881), St Stephen's, Willoughby (1882), rectories such as those at Bega (1856) and Darling Point, Sydney (1858); St Paul's College, Sydney (1856); the Bank of Australasia in George Street, Sydney (1857), St John's, Glebe (1868), St Silas's, Waterloo (1868), and large parts of the University of Sydney (1854). See my previous postings of Sydney University entitled "For Sig. Wall" and "The Halls of Learning" to see Blacket's handiwork.

Ciao Cara Lisa. You couldn't have asked for a more effective sky. Its bits of fluffy cotton like clouds do contrast superbly against the solid and stolid presence of the building. The light is magical. you really like to play with light, whether natural or man(woman)made.Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Lisa,
I was at an exhibition launch at the local art gallery a few weeks ago and thought that the cathedral in Goulburn would make a good photo and you've proved it.
When I looked at it I thought it might do with a bit of straightening but that'd get rid of important parts, so... a great photo as it is with the wide angle distortion adding to the effect.
cheers

Buongiorno Lisa,
The vertical frame suits this unusual angle of view perfectly. It also allows you to take advantage of that lovely sky with its tiny puffy clouds rising like smoke signals. I also like the way the light picks up the detail on the massive tower. Lovely colours and excellent sharpness.

Hi Lisa.
Handsome looking church, photographed from a position which accentuates its towering nature. Looks to be rather in the style of many English churches, hardly surprising if its an Anglican church, eh. I think the clarity of detail is outstanding. The CPL did a good job with the sky. I do like the cotton-ball clouds, but even more so the bare branches of the shrub in the bottom right, breaking up the church's severe lines.

Andrew

Ciao Lisa,
pretty good shot from this perspective. I like it how you experience with the different POV's and techniques,
not monotonous always the same way. That's the only way to improve your skill. And you are lucky with this amazing sky. mille grazie
and have a great weekend, too.

Hi Lisa,
so you also made a stop in Goulburn on the way to Melbourne?
Wonderful PoV for showing tiny fluffy clouds and English style church resching upwards.
Weather wasn't that good when I was there, but I might still upload a shot or two some day.

Ciao Lisa,
TFS!

Superb shot, Lisa,
You have expertly captured St. Saviour's Cathedral, photographing in ideal conditions with a beautiful warm light cast against the building's facade. Creating a POV close to the bottom of the cathedral impresses the grand scale of St. Saviour's upon a very humbled viewer. The sky overhead tops off the photo with tufts of white set against the brilliant blue. Well done and thanks for sharing!

Hi Lisa,
Goulburn, you sure do get around in search of the perfect pizza and coldest beers.
Good use of the wide lens and it's effect, reaching towards the heavens works well.
Good detail, and nice sharp lines.
Lucky with the sky too I see.
How were the pizzas???
Love ya

Hello Lisa
You probably don't remember me, but I am Kamram's Father-in-law from Melbourne. We met on the walk along the Yarra River. Nice architecture, Great Perspective, you have made it look as if the Church spire's are reaching out to those fluffy white clouds. good contrast and sharpness.

Hello Lisa,
Using a wide angle lens you've presented the vertical parallel lines, converging to accentuate the height. Initially, I thought it might be an architectural structure surviving from medieval times. Nicely composed, and presented with a Rosetta Stone-like note. It is a good way to review some Italian for me. Thank you.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Lisa,
The 5D is a awesome camera and its photos all have a special feeling, very evident in your photo, too.
The main subject would be the cathedral, and the complementary one the sky, no? Well then, I don`t really agree that the bush masking the main subject is a good asset to your photo, but this is only me:)
Overall I like the photo and I appreciate the fact that you haven`t tried to correct the wide lens distortion.
Cheers:)

Hi Lisa,
I love some of the old churches we have here in Australia. This one is beauty, it has been so long since I have been to Goulburn and many country towns have such interesting old architecture.
I like the perspective on this pic and it capturesvthat old-style Gothic feel with the barren trees in the foreground. TFS!

ciao Lisa,

TFS,
Donato
