Photographer's Note

In the last week, Australia's state of Queensland has experienced state-wide flooding that has been unprecedented in its history. My town of Ipswich (pop. 150,00) was the latest town to get hit before the capital of Brisbane, which peaked this morning. Across the state, 14 people have died and scores are still missing. The clean up is going to cost billions and could take up to two years or more.

This is not far from my own home, but the owners could do nothing but stand and watch as their house was inundated with smelly, toxic flood water.

For anyone who knows Ipswich, or has a map, this is the end of Chermside Road, Basin Pocket.... devastating is the only word I could think of.

I have posted a couple more photos of the flood in a workshop.
