Photographer's Note
British artist Stephen Wiltshire is currently at the State Library of Queensland drawing the cityscape of Brisbane from his photographic memory.
After a ride on the wheel at Southbank, and a helicopter ride over Brisbane on Friday he began drawing on Saturday. He has previously drawn London, Tokyo, Rome, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Madrid, Dubai, Jerusalem, New York, Venice and Sydney on giant canvasses.
Stephen's artistic talents were discovered at age five - two years after he was diagnosed with autism.

Hi Marlene,
I listened to an interviiew with this incredible man on the ABC in Brisbane today. I was amazed he can draw a city with such skill and detail from simply a short view and purely from memory. Despite some of the limitations he suffers in life, this ability has to be regarded a genius, and the picture of Brisbane here looks amazing.
Thanks for sharing this one.
Cheers
Justin

Hello Marlene,
An amazing life story and an amazing artist. "Rain Man" comes to my mind but I suppose he has heard that too many times. It's a good photo too, very well balanced and well cropped. This is really watching art as it is born.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Marlene!
He's surely a great artist! And I like your composition here. You captured him in action, with part of the draw already made. I wonder how it will look like at the end. Good work! I'm glad you're showing it!

Hi Marlene
Good to include both the man, & his amazing work. Brisbane is my hometown, & I can easily recognize this without any introduction or prompts. He has done a fantastic & amazing job of reproducing the key landmarks of the city & your photo conveys this well. A good cover note too. Tfs!

Hello Marlene,
This is an exceptionally good depiction of the artist at work that goes for the photographer as well.
I just came across this photo you had posted in 2011. I saw an documentary about this man and the remarkable achievements of autistic person. In his case, he took a helicopter ride over London, then reproduced all that he saw with remarkable accuracy. We are going to be in Brisbane for the day on 15 February, probably arriving the evening before and sailing out on the afternoon of the 15th.
You have not been active on Trekearth for sometime. By now, you should be finished with your sabbatical and should consider returning.
Warm regards,
Bulent
