Photographer's Note

In June this year, I was very lucky to visit the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park at night with an astro photography tour.

This is a photo of Uluru and the Milky Way, the star trails were taken over an hour and reflect the movement of the Earth. The movement of the stars are not in a perfect circle, because the celestial South Pole is not directly over Uluru. You can see that it is to the far right of the frame.

I have never seen so many stars in my life.

Staring up at that huge sky made me think of the quote by Oscar Wilde, "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking up at the stars".

In the next photo I upload, you can see what it looked like on a 20 second exposure.
