Photographer's Note

This photo was taken during the Riverfire spectacular display of choreographed colours and music fireworks from the bridges, rooftops and skies above Brisbane City in Queensland, Australia.

The Riverfire display is part of the annual Brisbane Riverfestival which lasts for 10 days and is a commemoration of the Brisbane River cultural diversity from the source in the Bunya Mountains to the mouth at Moreton Bay where it joints de Pacific Ocean.

The fireworks start and end by an impressive low sweep over the city of two RAAF F-111 strike jets, reaching speeds of up to 800kph before performing a “dump and burn” display. Unfortunately, I could not get a proper picture of the F-111. So, if you are interested you can watch a short video here

As you all know, photographing fireworks is not an easy tasking. Because of the brightness and speed at which they occur, some kind of compromise must be done in order to obtain pictures with some quality. This is what I have tried for the first time and I would like to share with you. All comments are welcome and I also would like to read from experienced fireworks photographers. Real and good technical suggestions would be much appreciated.

In workshop 1 you can see a picture of the city background before the display and in workshop 2 a second shot of the display.
