Photographer's Note
This shot was taken on the trip to canberra. As we drove I saw this solitary tree with a little scattering of sheep. What drew me to take a shot were the simple lines in the clouds and of the fence. And the skeleton branches of the tree looks a little eerie.
I elected to post the B&W conversion as the main shot and posted the original and a colored image in the workshops. It's a little test of techniques for me so I would love to hear which one people like and why:)
The PP in this shot includes some dodge and burn work on a soft light layer and general work on the sky and ground separately using layer masks.
In the end I made a vignette to keep focus on the tree

Hi Cato,
Very nice B/W shot. Very good framing and I like the darker edges. The details in the clouds are amazing, very good details.

bonjour Cato,
belle image en n&b la composition est simple mais bien réalisée.
Peut-ętre que le décentrage de l'arbre aurait été un plus.

Hi Cato,
I like this picture and the effect you give to it. Compared to the original, this one is stronger and your choice is (to my taste) very good.

Hello Cato,
This is a beautiful image of the lone tree. The clouds look superb in B&W. Very nice indeed.

Hey Cato, great photo. I do have some (largely personal) concerns about converting photos to B&W after the fact, but both photos are really good and i definitely think the B&W one has the most impact.
Cheers,

Hi Cato,
The colour version is not that bad, but i prefer this one. It brings a certain mood in the photo, almost spooky, but im like it a lot.
Great composition with the right colour toning...great work.

Hi Cato,
Wow this is different! I love the solitary tree and the cloud formations are amazing. I looked at your workshop and I really like this version. The black and white gives an almost brooding look, very atmospheric! Well done and TFS :-) Cheers Tina

In short, the post-processing is marvellous. As it should, it adds enormously to the simple scene you captured. Very nicely done!
