Photographer's Note

A ghost gum catches the light in Ormiston Gorge, in the MacDonnell Ranges west of Alice Springs. I was sitting down eating lunch in the gorge when I looked up and noticed the tree lit up by the sun shining through a gap in the cliff. The rocks in the cliff are the typical red colour of inland Australia. A walking track goes right through Ormiston Gorge, which is one of the most scenic places in the Western MacDonnell Ranges.

Scanned from a slide. Polariser used. I also applied an unsharp contrast mask in Photoshop to lighten the rocks behind the tree, as they were very dark in the original.
