Celebrating not my 50th Birtday but my 50th post.
This shot was taken By the Yarra River in Melbourne Just East of Princes Bridge.
I have cut and pasted some informatio from a previous posting of mine.
Moomba is an annual festival in the city of Melbourne, Australia and one of the largest and longest running festivals in Australia, and has been celebrated since 1955.

The official translation is "let's get together and have fun."

In 1981 Barry Blake in his Australian Aboriginal Languages spelled out the etymology in more detail:
Undoubtedly the most unfortunate choice of a proper name from Aboriginal sources was made in Melbourne when the city fathers chose to name the city's annual festival 'Moomba'. The name is supposed to mean 'Let's get together and have fun', though one wonders how anyone could be naive enough to believe that all this can be expressed in two syllables. In fact 'moom' (mum) means 'buttocks' or 'anus' in various Victorian languages and 'ba' is a suffix that can mean 'at', 'in' or 'on'. Presumably someone has tried to render 'up your bum' in the vernacular.

Furthermore, in 1969, Luise Hercus provided the following definition for 'mum' (i.e., 'moom') in The Languages of Victoria:
Mum: bottom, rump. The jocular Healesville expression 'mum ba' — 'bottom and . . .' — has been given to the authorities in jest with the translation 'let us get together and have fun', hence the Melbourne Moomba Festival.

I could not help myself and had to include that explanation of the word Moomba.

That aside it is time to get together and have fun.

OK, Santo!

So they let the fireworks to celebrate your 50th post! I like your composition to have the fireworks in a row diagonally here and the exposure is well done. Great colors including the ferry wheel. Perhaps you can place the exposure settings as footnote?

Hi Santo,

Simply the best firework shot I have seen so far! It is so sharp and detailed that I can even count the number of sparkles in the air, but I wont spend the time counting, just too many. You have chosen the right POV to include a row of them erupting simultaneously with a cascading effects.

I've tried taking shots of fireworks before and they always seemed to look like a blurr, hopefully one day I can produce a shot like this! Hi Santo, I'm sorry I missed this one. A belated congratulations on your 50th. I like the control you have in this shot of the fireworks, it can be very difficult to do. You have very good exposure on the background, yet captured several explosions of the fireworks, without overdoing it. Your timing was perfect for this shot. The composition works well with the 4 (firework) fountains and the midair explosions over those. This is a good milestone piece, looking forward to a lot more from you.

Id love to comment on this photo - i think its a pure shot of adrenaline and celebration. Rarely do you see fireworks shots full of activity like this one... and no blurring at all!

How did I miss this one? Having attempted shooting fireworks myself lately, I'm embarrassed now to post my poor attempts. This is superb. Not only do we have spot-on exposure, but we have the marvellous fairground in the background as another star element. Just marvellous, the quality is impeccable.
