Day at the Beach, a photo from Coromandel, North Island

Photographer's Note

Kiwis love the beach. A country where just about nobody lives further than an hour from the ocean, the Kiwis know how to make the best out of their leisure time. I was fortunate enough to spend a good part of the last day of 2004 at Cathedral Cove beach. An absolutely beautiful white sand beach Cathedral Cove is known for its ocean carved Arch way (stay tuned for more Archway images) I wanted to find a picture that was less common. I really like the lines formed by the rock and the there on the right, and thought the two kids playing in the ocean give the shot life and action.

Post processing was very limited. I did a very slight USM and added the boarder.

Nice shot, the whitewash looks great against the colour of the ocean. The cliff also looks good and the positioning of the kids just tops it off.

Ive been living in Auckland for the past 9 months and I've almost forgotten what a blue sky looks like, you're shot reminded me of that :)

Michael, I like your composition here with the boys in one corner of the frame and the tree diagonally opposite. Good detail and contrast too.

Hi Michael,
Very good shot. I like:
- beautiful green colour of the sea
- tight composition
- curious diagonal of the cliff with the tree
- and the children which are make the scale of the picture

Superbe!! Et dire que c l'hiver ici :( ta photo ŕ déja le mérite de faire ręver ŕ l'été prochain (qui nous manque déja ŕ tous je pense)

Quand au choix de la couleur du cadre il est des plus judicieu :))
