West coast sunset, a photo from West Coast, South Island

Photographer's Note

This was taken at sunset at a beach along the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. The beaches here are much wilder than those found on the North Island.

With this photo, I was experimenting with the different white balance settings on my camera in an attempt to get a good silhoutte.

Totally disagree with your note, the whole of the west coast on both Islands are as wild/rough as each other due to the vicious Tasman sea, only thing which makes the south island look rougher is the lying driftwood washed up on the beaches although the Taranaki region can be associated with this. I like the rough west coast beach here and the waves in the background, over exposure in the sky obviously but decent setting none the less.
