Photographer's Note
The body of water here is actually a river, although this is right on the shoreline! Taken late afternoon with the sun going down. This beach is part Abel Tasman National Park, on the northern coast of New Zealand's South Island. It can only be reached via a narrow and twisty gravel road - which clearly explains why I met an RV driving in the opposite direction ;-)
The park is named after the explorer Abel Tasman, who ironically never set foot here - his crew were repelled from the area by the fierce fighting of the local Maori people. He was also the first European to sight Tasmania, which also bears his name.
The national park was opened in 1942, three hundred years after his visit. Abel Tasman NP is the smallest of the New Zealand national parks, measuring "just" 22530 hectares :)

Nice capture of the Golden Sands, low perspective, great DOF (pin-sharp in the foreground and at the tree line).

A brilliant photo!! Really amazing!
Nice colours and superb perspective!
Even if you only look on the bottom part of the photo it looks like a photo from some mountains taken from a plane.

Superb wide-angle shot. Taken with a 17mm lens perhaps? Very attractive colours, perfectly in focus, good use of the polaroid filter, technically a perfect shot. My 6 out of 5 Adrian!

I am truly amazed Adrian, a fantastic shot. Wide angle is perfect for NZ scenery, it's the feeling of space that I love there and here on this pic.
The colours are stunning here, the saturation is incredible. Maybe this is the only point here, that the way I remember Abel Tasman beaches, the colours were a bit less vivid, but I can't really hold that against this picture, because I love it!

beautifully captured, and wonderful patterns on the sand/soil.
colors are a bit oversaturated in my opinion. still its an excellent shot. simply beautiful

This is a nice shot, but I think that the polariser has led to a loss in contrast in the top part of the sky (ironically). Experience has recently taught me that a polariser can in fact be bad with a wide angle lens.
Maybe some day someone will come up with a way to perform selective polarization. The foreground here is great though.

I love this one !

Adrian this is 1st class work , for me there are two pictures to be seen in this with almost a horizontal split between the two, am tempted to post in workshop but 2nd thougths why deface such beauty and work ,just a 5 mm crop to the right hand side , for the tree on the hillside.

Superb! The colors are fantastic and the perspective Wow.. Nothing I can add on all this technical stuff, I don't know enough to discuss this aspect. The sand and sky stand out so much that again by scrolling the image on my screen just below the trees (which are not as outstanding as the two other features) I saw that the beach alone would make a great shot also.

Wow, very impressive, you've set up the whole for maximum effect, didn't you...Actually this shot tends to demonstrate that the earth is round.
The foreground patterns are very interesting, it should also work very nicely in BW with all that contrast, though i know you're not very keen on BW. It really looks like JL Sieff's desert landscapes, a photographer who used to shoot with a 21mm and added his own twist with very dark, burnt and contrasted skies, known as Sieff's skies.
Excellent job as usual.

Colors, composition, subject, framing, polarizer, presentation - all excellent!
(I would clone out the people or sheep from the shoreline though.)

Hasn't New Zealand got some stunning scenery? Your shot brings back memories of that amazing place. I like the angle you chose and the portrait format, but find the saturation a little on the heavy side.

I liked this one, and the perspective really sucks you in to the picture. What I don't like is the color of the sky. Sonners & nina is touching the same issue also, and to me the sky is bit too dark. To me a wideangle, provia togheter with a polarizer seem a bit overkill. I have a 20-35, and it gives a nice boost in the colors compared to more tele-lendes. I don't know if it's my lens or if it is a quality of the wide-angle.....
Anyway I think you should've dropped the polarizer for this shot, and maybe increased the saturation in the post-processing on the foreground (wich is great)!
Just a point of view......

excellent wide angle here Adrian-
the rock-sand I must say I've never seen a beach like this. I also think that the dark sky shows good separtion in the brownish sandy tan color of the earth. excellent all around.

Hi Adrian,
This is a great landscape. The colors are impressive and vivid.
The orange sand is a beautiful foreground and the sky is perfect.
The composition is very good and the vertical frame is well chosen for this landscape.
The distortion created by the lens is increasing the impression of depth and beauty.
I like these shapes in the sand.
Bravo !

Hi Adrian,
Very nice picture, indeed. The structures of the sand are subject to become pictures by their own. If you have a look at my gallery, you'll see that I did a very similar shot, but zoomed tight on the sand, which looks then like a tree. Bith results are beautiful, I think!
