Marovo Lagoon, Solomon Islands.

This is the wreck of the Taiyo, a 300 foot long fishing boat that crashed and sank on it's maiden voyage. The ship went down backwards VERTICALLY against a massive reef. The bow is only 5 feet under the surface, and you can swim directly over it. As you look straight down to the stern nearly 300 feet into the abyss, you feel as though you are floating in outer space, hovering over the ship, trying your hardest to keep the powerful sense of vertigo at bay...

Hello Michael,

In my familly we are practicing both subdiving and photo and sometimes the 2 activities in the same time. So I am very interesting by this post.
At start, I was thinking you tilted the shot, but reading the note I understand it was not the case. It should be a strange and interesting dive to go on this boat.
As it is an ambiance shot, the flash did not compensate the blue color and it is participating nicely to the ambiance of the shot with the bottom of the boat disapearing in the deepness.

a ver y fine picture, i love this deep blue. It seems to be a pleasant divespot, but i see no fishes on your image. Fine work, TFS

Hi Michael,
This is terrible view of wreck, Very good POV! Excellent show, needless to say about colors.I wonder as an old diver , How deep was your position and did you use special housing for your camera ?
