It was on a boat going from Manaus (Amazonas) to Belem (Para). Alexandra was going with her aunt on the same ship, they joined us in Breves, a small city on the biggest river island: Ilha de Marajo. Alaxandra was going to visit her grandmother who is living in Belem. On our last trip day Alexandra said ok when I asked to take a picture of her.

I think it is not necessary to add that she was the most beautiful child I've seen during my whole trip around Brazil.

...I would like to dedicate this photo to Karlos Martin, a professional Basque photographer, with whom I was traveling for long time in Brazil. Because of him I have started again to love black and white photography.
