FAROL DE ITAPUÃ - ITAPUÃ LIGHTHOUSE - As one leaves the downtown beaches of the city, Itapuã is one of them one can find going to the north, still in the city, but with a bit more of nature around! That day, it had rained the whole morning and, unfortunately, I had to stay at the hotel room. Around two o'clock in the afternoon the sun finally shone and I went out to visit some other places, like the beaches in the northern shoreline of the city!

Situated at the Itapuã Beach and still working, it's also a source of inspiration for several local composers (music, poetry).

It was built in 1873, over the Piraboca Rock, by the engineer Zózimo Barrozo. It's 21m tall. It was firstly painted purple, but in 1939 it was repainted with white and orange horizontal stripes and in 1950 with white and red stripes, the way it is until nowadays.
