Laguna Chaxa, a photo from Antofagasta, Norte Grande

Photographer's Note

A Laguna Chaxa está localizada na Reserva Nacional los Flamencos. Lá existe uma incrível formaçăo salina na superfície, provenientes da evaporaçăo da água salgada do subsolo. Também é possível encontrar uma importante populaçăo de flamingos rosados, protegidos pela Corporación Nacional Forestal (CONAF).

As 3 espécies de flamingos que lá habitam săo: o Flamingo-andino, o Flamingo-chileno e o Flamingo-de-James. O flamingo da foto é provavelmente o Flamingo-chileno, pois ele possui o joelho avermelhado. Além disso, ele năo possui detalhes pretos nas asas (exclusivo do Flamingo-andino) e nem no seu rabo (exclusivo do Flamingo-de-James).

No momento da foto, o flamingo estava rodando em torno do próprio eixo, para mexer no fundo da lagoa e assim os invertebrados que fazem parte da sua dieta subirem para a superfície.

Hi Luis,

The distance between the birds and the mountains is giving depth to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the Pink Flamingos and of the mountains. The quality of the light is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

Charming view of this Laguna high in the mountains. How can flamingos live so high? and the water is probably salty. Magnificent reflections, fantastic snow capped volcano.
I visited many places in Chile but had no time for Atacama. What a loss.

I love how the vertical format enables you to guide us deeper and deeper into the scene by means of the repeating strips of land and the presence of flamingoes.

A love this splendid picture with the two flamingos hiding the head in the water. They learned this probably from the ostrich who hides his had in the sand.
I admired the portrait format of the scene with several horizontal lines and zones. Very attractive composition.

I like your vertical composition of this amazing landscape. The flamingos in the water create a wonderful foreground. The flamingos seem so tropical, and the mountains in the distance seem so cold. qué paisaje tan impresionantemente bello y lleno de tranquilidad, me gusta tu encuadre vertical para dar un ángulo visual con una enorme profundidad.
La imagen es muy limpia y nítida, podemos ver perfectamente las montańas andinas al fondo y el los flamencos al primer plano.
Bellas tonalidades azules en el cielo y en el agua, y un bonito contraste con la nieve en la cordillera.
