Photographer's Note

Leave Puerto Natales travelling along Seno de Ultima Esperanza (Last Hope Inlet), with its many blackneck swans. Past the old buildings of Frigorificos Bories (Bories Cold Storage House), the route goes through a large valley, finally arriving at the Cueva del Milodon.
Just before arriving at the cave, you will pass a large rock formation that is know as the Silla del Diablo (Devil's Seat). At the end of the past century, the remains of a prehistoric Milodon (Perezoso Desdentado) were found in the 200 meter deep Milodon Cave. The huge size of the cave is due to a geological fault of carbonate which was slowly dissolved by seeping water.
You can walk into the cave and look back to see the silhouette of a life-size Milodon recreation guarding the entrance to the cave that was its refuge thousands of years ago.
