Photographer's Note
Chapinero is the welthiest area of Bogotá. I remember it mostly for the many high rise buildings in the hillside. But not all areas are as wealthy.
My good Colombian friend was going back to work and she told me about this nice park following a river. So I followed this river, walking slowly up the hillside. When I eventually reached the end of the park, I decided to just keep walking along the main road that follows the hillside. There I passed several of these high rise apartment buildings, walking on a small path next to the cars, that seemed to have the priority up here. One place I got a glimpse of the city below, hiding in the cloud cover. Someone had been tagging a hand holding up a flag as a sign of peace and freedom for Colombia on the fence below.
The sun came out and suddenly the view opened up. But there I also found a neighborhood that seemed to remain untouched from the wealth that was present in the surrounding area. I hided in some old ruins on top of the hill, where a policeman had also found cover. It was not the safest place in Bogotá, he confirmed. The only dared having policemen there during daylight.
For an hour we were sitting there in the sun talking and sharing pictures. So cheers, he's doing an important job on top of Chapinero.

Hi Fredrik,a very rich composition showing us this corner of Bogota in the best way from this capture from the top,a curious mix of modern and old architechtures, and a lot of colors too everywhere, not an example of a right urbanistic plane..ehhee...have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Fredrik,
I found your photo very interesting and view from your location gives one a view of some poverty and perhaps a hope as well. Seeing Bogota, prompt me to tell you a short story. In 1951 I was in the US Military on orders to go to Korea to fight in the war there. Just days before I was to depart I received a phone call from Washington DC, saying they need someone with my specialty in Bogota Columbia or Paris, France. Well I went to Paris, so I missed this city, But it was an unbelievable incident in my life.
Back to the picture and your comment. I can well imagine the police officer wondering what is this European doing here in the not so good district of our city. I think you did an excellent job with this street scene. Colorful, well composed, sharp and it tells a story.
Regards, Roger.
