Bogotá - On the Cerro de Monserrate

Another picture taken on the Cerro de Monserrate, the mountain that forms the eastern boundary of Bogotá.

Next to the large church that is visible from below in the city center theres a Way of the Cross (Via Crucis) on the mountain.
In the Christian world this is a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion with the aim of making a spiritual pilgrimage through contemplation of the passion of Christ. These images can be small plaques with reliefs or paintings often placed around a church nave but they can also be sculptures like here on the Cerro de Monserrate.
The sculptures here are located in a beautiful elongated and very well-kept garden.

The weather wasnt very nice when I was on the mountain but it became sunnier later that day.

Opnieuw een heerlijke foto de toegang en de mensen langs het pad.
Uw foto geeft zoveel mooie dingen dat ik langer moet kijken om alles gezien te hebben.
Er zit diepte in mooi perspectief en de helderheid en scherpte mogen absoluut gezien worden.
Voor mij goed foto werk, geen aaiing Paul, maar de werkelijkheid. Bedankt.

De rechterkant van de foto doet me een beetje denken aan Gaudi met deze barokke, grillige vormen. Wie weet heeft hij hier zijn inspiratie vandaan gehaald. Grappig om dat ook de strakke beelden aan de linker kant te zien. Kortom een plaatje waarop veel te genieten is. Weer of geen weer.

Hello Paul,
The red road and railings and the visitors, some dressed in red, dominate this photo quite strongly, but there are many other fine features. Looking a bit further te´here is a fine connection between the bell tower close to us and the church/tower/statue (?) on the distant hill. I also like the statue on the immediate left side and the many trees of different kinds that make this look like a botanical garden.

Bonjour Paul,

J'aime beaucoup cette composition.Le regard plonge vers le bas pour remonter la montagne au loin. Au passage , il s'accroche aux couleurs du sol, au clocher tout blanc et aux nombreux personnages.

Hallo Paul,
Een mooi overzicht over de tuinen, de bezoekers zorgen voor levendigheid zonder dat ze het uitzicht op de achtergrond met het kleine witte torentje, het oranje pannendak en de bergen verstoren. De donkere wolken vormen een mooi contrast met de warme kleuren van de voorgrond.

Hello Paul,

The scene is very colourful and attracts attention without difficulty.
Together, the railings and the stone wall funnel viewers towards the white bell tower, in the m/g and a further white building, high on the hill.
There is no rush, with plenty of time to absorb all the interesting details alongside the pathway.

may be the weather was not great but this was certainly a moment with a great light here. The clouds add nice atmosphere. The scene is very well lit with great colors.
The white bell tower is so charming! I like also the variety of vegetation along the path.
