Photographer's Note
Alpamayo trek, Day 6.
We had a tight schedule this last day of the trek, so we woke up very early in the morning (around 5 am). While preparing some hot drink to push away the cold out of our bones we had the oppourtunity to capture this "Peak Illumination", as I call it, of Pucahirca massif (the highest is the north peak, at 6047 meters ASL) . This is a common "phenomenon" in which high peaks are being illuminated first while other parts of the landscape are still kept in shadows, and thus emphasizing the contour and colors of the peak.

Hi Chen,
How wonderful trek this must have been! So you didn't got to the top before the sunrise...
The landscape and light are amazing with the clouds around the top like a belt. I just love it. Thank you for sharing your trek trip,
All the best,
Ricardo

Excellent lighting you got here. Waking up early did pay. And also you got here a nice cloud formation to emphasize the beauty of your picture.

This rolling cloud like a snake or dragon devouring it's prey - the scale of this drama enacted over mountains - a naturalistic shot but one I also find very symbolic - with the eyes of the shaman - first light - the hunter stalks it's prey - what does this mean for the coming day?
There are things abou this image which really excite the poet in me. Very nice Chen.
best wishes Kev
