IMPRISONED CLAWS, a photo from Arequipa, South

Photographer's Note

One of these villages, Maca, was the epicentre of an earthquake in 1991. The village and church were gradually rebuilt since, but a visible open fault still testifies to the importance of the seism.
This small village is on the way of Colca Canyon.

Do not trust appearances, even if this eagle seems to dominate te guy, it is indeed in captivity and it will probably never fly again !!!

Salut Luan,
Bon double portrait ou toute l'attention est concentree sur le rapace car le regard nous amene vers lui et il est le seul a etre en lumiere. L'arriere plan non floute nous permet de deviner un environnement assez interessant, qui meriterait un post, je pense.

Trčs beau cliché tout en tilt; le rapace lui_męme s'accorde avec les lignes de l'église, visage rejeté en arričre de l'homme, tout s'équilibre parfaitement

The pose of the man and his bird (eagle?),
is so strong and powerful.Good compo with tight framing but in the background the surrounding is still visible.Excellent portrait of the country,the village and the people.

Vi Luan,
The photo is captured well, but I've been to that place, and it is sad to see this eagle captured and tied for over 10 years. And it all happen in Maca which is inside the national park.
What is even more depressing about this story is that this beautiful bird is captured because of tourists who pay this evil guy to take photos.

Dommage que le soleil vertical ne nous permet pas de voir avec clarté l'oeil de l'oiseau qui observe son maitre. On voit qu'il tient vraiment ŕ lui vu crs crochets plantés dans son avant-bras ;o) !

Hi Luan,
I've read all critiques before, especially the one from Alon, well, as for me this is a good photo, well taken with the main subject well in focus but you can still see the "owner"... and i say "owner" because i don't see the eagle tied up, nor badly feed... i believe it's the kind of trust relation beetween man and animal... i pose for you if you feed me well... this way she don't have to hunt anymore.

Hello Luan,
le cadrage est bon, dis donc, on dirait que les griffes du rapace ce plante dans la peau de son maître/bourreau !
L'arričre plan est trop présent amha, mais avec un compact t'as pas vraiment le choix. En travaillant ŕ la focal max, tu arriverais peut-ętre ŕ l'atténuer un peu.

Ben dis donc ca doit pas faire du bien ces crochets plantés dans le bras...tant que c'est pas ds les yeux ca va ;)
Trčs bon timing...assez impressionannt avec ces ailes ouvertes.
T'as bien cadré également et la profondeur est tip-top et trčs nette.

Decisive moment can be another category here Luan. The pose of the bird is certainly fitting of that category and its very dramatic. The best thing is the eye contact between the bird and the man.

Salut Luan, encore une image superbe du Perou - ca a du etre une espece d'epiphanie pour tou la-bas - tes images sont franchement lumineuses!
Scene extraordinaire et en meme temps emblematique du pays je pense...J'aime le fait ue le visage du gars est dans l'ombre - tout pour le rapace!

I think Alon's comment is good from the point of view of animal rights, but he missed the mark by critizing the photographer for what the locals do. The point is that animal cruelty and sensless destroying of the nature goes on in just about every corner of the globe, and it's impossible for everyone to be aware of it, expect everyone to take action or make them avoid the place all together. I also think that the comment about the photo itself would be welcome, because usually the smiley applies to the image and not the subject of it.

I like the image, great portrait of a local with captured bird (here where the learning about world comes in) against extremely interesting layered background of human made and natural subjects. Great colours and exposure, even thought the sun seems farily harsh and the church is white, nothing seems overexposed. Perhaps I would prefer the crop to be less tight, but like it the way it is.

Bon nous sommes tous des touristes et des photographes avides de belles images.
Sans vouloir polémiquer il est important de garder en mémoire la mise en gardes d'Alon.
On a le droit de se tromper et de faire des gaffes mais pas d'ętre complaisant avec ces pratiques.

Ses serres doivent piquer pas mal le bras du bonhomme...
C'est malheureusement fort triste de se dire qe cet oiseau ne volera jamais et qu'il a été soustrait ŕ sa vie sauvage...

Je regardais un peu ta galerie et je suis tombee sur cette photo qui me plait bien. Une compo bien faite, avec cette eglise reconstruite apres le seisme, cet aigle qui ne volera plus :( ...
On peut remarquer que les serres de l aigle s enfoncent dans la chair de cet homme, qui ne porte pas de gants...lumiere et couleurs sont bonnes egalement.
