Photographer's Note

'She walked calmly, not seeming to care about the hours. We passed fast mostly worried about the arrival. Two worlds, two different rhythms of life... dictated by different compass.... Was she coming back after had brought lunch to her husband that is working on the fields? Was she gathering the animals? Or was she just going to visit a neighbor? What's the story of her life? I'll probably never know, but made me think about so many good moments I passed in the countryside not worried about the time and enjoying the good company...'

The picture was took on Day 7 - Passing the region of Lagunillas (see previous post) and getting next to Julliaca where there's a changing on the landscape We seem to arrive on an altiplano. The vast empty spaces only filled here and there by alpacas give place to ships and cattle as well as a bigger number of farm hoses and people going around. The houses here are made form adobe, not stone, and the circular wall around the terrain which is typical of the alpacas' farms cannot be seen here. We also see people working their fields or moving their animals. (see WS for picture of a sheepkeeper)
