Photographer's Note
The Loch Ard Gorge is part of Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia, about 10 minutes drive west of The Twelve Apostles. It is a visible example of the process of erosion in action.
The gorge is named after the clipper ship Loch Ard, which ran aground on nearby Muttonbird Island on 1 June 1878 approaching the end of a three-month journey from England to Melbourne.
All but two of the fifty-one passengers and crew perished - Tom Pearce, a ship's apprentice and Eva Carmichael, an Irishwoman immigrating with her family, both of whom were 19 years of age. According to memorials at the site, Pearce was washed ashore, and rescued Carmichael from the water after hearing her cries for help. Pearce then proceeded to climb out of the gorge to raise the alarm to local pastoralists who immediately set into plan a rescue attempt.
The gorge is accessed via the Great Ocean Road, only a few kilometres past The Twelve Apostles. Stairs allow visitors access to the beach which is otherwise undeveloped. There are numerous plaques that tell the story as well and a small museum and rest area and a cemetery housing many of the people that were killed.

hello
Wonderfull b&w panorama on these cliffs. The long time exposure & b&w add some dramatic effect to the picture. perhaps a little bit dark specially looking on upper part left & right.
Best regards

Hi Radim
The long exposure very effectively accentuates the landscape feature in the middle. Great shot!

Hi Radim,
I like how the clouds, the cliffs, and the arch all draw the viewer's attention towards the light at the horizon. It's a very cool effect with a clear centre of focus. The black and white works well too.
Cheers!

Hello Radim.
I know this place very well. Your shot is a very interesting and dramatic portrayal of this famous piece of coastline. I like the tonalities and the contrast, with strong highlights in the foreground and along the cliff-sides. A little bit of detail lost on the vegetation on the cliff-tops, but it's a very good long exposure. Well done.
Regards,
Andrew
PS did you visit the nearby Glenample homestead which is mentioned in your notes. It's a fantastic story.

hi Radim,
an impressive coast thanks to the living sky (good exposition control).
A deep b&w.

Hi Radim, I've seen many shots of this Gorge, but this would be one of the most impressive. I love the B&W and the effect on the clouds and water the 30 second exposure has. The wide angle has also been used to great effect here. Congratulations on another excellent posting, Lisa.

It amazes me Radim how you can make the majestic in nature appear even more so with your skills. 30 seconds- long enough to recreate nature! It seems as if we are zooming past or if the scene is zooming past us. Love the effect in the sky and the light on the vegetation and rock. Regards. Klaudio.
