Alor Stars biggest Hindu temple is the centrally located Maha Mariamman Devasthanam, which recently has been renovated. Its a typical very colorful South Indian temple. On special request the head priest or Brahman chants prayers at any of the shrines within the temple compound as can be seen in the picture above. Only about 9% of the population of Malaysia are ethnic Indians, mostly from Southern India.

Hello Urs,
nice snapshot of this Hindu temple with the pilgrims to pray in front of the temple.I like the ornaments as the colours of the interior of it.A good reportage shot.Well done.
