They are mediums(maidens in the service of a Shinto shrine). They are waiting at the seaside park where the portable shrine would come soon. After that, they would perform the sacred dance.

Hi Takero,
A trio of very pretty girls in their attractive costumes and flowered heads. What are they holding in their hands? Very good framing by the stone pillars.

A great shot here again, Takero...just really wonderful. The one of the left is giving you a cute little smile, but those two on the left are stealing the photo...goodness. Such great faces, and it would be great to see them in performance, too. Very nicely done once again.

Beautiful picture and interesting note here. I read about this but I didn't imagine the mediums as young and pretty with their lovely smiles and flower hats.

hi takero,
they are indeed very young to be in the service of a shrine... =)
I am often amazed by how self-assured children are nowadays when they are in front of a camera - maybe it's my memory, but when I was a kid we all seemed pretty shy if someone tried to photograph us...
anyway - memories aside: I love the light, soft and embracing, but what is really incredible is the level of detail and colour depth, especially in the white areas. astonishing really.

this is a very very nice "group portrait"! Children are always ... we... children! :) They smile and are very spontaneous.
