Photographer's Note

Biking from Lhasa to Kathmandu - this one an example of one of the many mountain passes we had to tackle. Most of the road on the "friendship highway" is paved, but not this stretch, which created a bumpy descent from the numerous trucks who preceded us.

Beaultiful mountain line in the back. You were very smart to capture the biker. It makes the whole difference in the photo.

An impressive view of an impressive landscape that I didn't expect to be so dry. Beautiful golden colours fading into brtown-green and snowcas. The biker provides a contrasting attention point and brings scale and depth. Don't fall!

Hi Dan,

A great composition with the winding descending road and the cyclist gives a viewer a sense of a size and magnificence of the background. I love the almost monochromatic colors. It must have been both hard and amazing to ride a bike through this mountain desert.

This is one of the most beautiful pictures I've seen on TrekEarth recently. Good luck in your future journeys.

A brilliant photo - I can't believe this was posted over a year ago and this is my first viewing. Everything is in focus from the distant mountains, the dramatic clouds and the dwarfed cyclist. Rich colours and lovely composition. I would love to travel this road one day but not by cycle. I have been to Kathmandu 3 times but have never been to Lhasa. A favourite! Cheers, Marlene
