Photographer's Note
The photo shows part of the showers used by the coal miners in the now abandoned mine of Beringen, Belgium.
The coal mine of Beringen was one of seven mines in the Belgian province of Limburg.
The construction of the mine shafts started in 1907 but was interrupted by the first world war.
Coal was delved from 1922 unwards from depths reaching 850m. The mine employed a maximum of 6796 miners in 1948 and reached a maximum capacity of 886.000 tons per year. Total production was 79.332.200 ton.
The mine was closed in 1989 but many of the above ground installations were preserved as the Flemish Mine Museum.

Hello Paul
You've seen in this place its graphical and strong potential.
Your framing is perfect to play with the lines.
The deserted place creates a very special atmosphere, something quiet scary... Like a horror movie's scene.
I expect to see a man with a knife in the hand emerging from these showers ;o)
Compliments for the perfect quality of your shot.
Regards
Karine

Hi Paul
Thanks to your very informative notes and the picture is part of history and now a musueum. Long perpective I like!! and the details are the main highlights worth seeing. Lovely natural indoor light is awesome and the aged yellow floor intensify the impact. Great photo effort Paul, Congratulation. Have a nice day.

bonjour PAul
les lignes,la perspective donnent un certain graphisme ŕ ce lieu maintenant deserté oů l'on ressent une sorte de nostalgie,et les tons froid des carrelages en accentuent la tristesse!

Hi Paul,
I like much this shot even if I'm not surprised it doesn't attract many comments, because it's out of the mold on TE. It's an interesting shot for its historic value but also because you succeeded to make an elegant shot with a dilapidated place. I particularly like the light here which is really the master of this composition according to me.
Nice shot with a perfect quality.

Hi Paul
Very good symmetrical composition with a central point located in a dark entrance. Interesting is to compare the vertical elements of the door with sidewalk. Good light and nice colors.
