Photographer's Note

Gare de Saint-Exupéry TGV (formerly Gare de Satolas) is a railway station situated 20km from Lyon city centre. Satolas was designed by Santiago Calatrava, built to serve the TGV line from Paris to Marseille and opened on 3 July 1994. The dramatic of the central halls superstructure derives from one of Calatravas sculptures: a balanced shape resembling a bird at the point of flight. The building is a steel covered cement structure. Satolas railway station is linked to Lyon's Satolas Airport by a footbridge. This first airport (historically) to be served by a high speed station.

I could not imagine a more beautiful rendition of this structure, here resembling a falcon. But it is the sky as the backdrop that makes the scene so dramatic. I can see that you are a fan of Mr. Calatrava's architectural designs, as I am.
