Photographer's Note

My turn to show Hook Head lighthouse, one of the most famous of Ireland. It stands on Hook head in south coast of county Wexford, in the south east of Ireland. It is one of the oldest lighthouse in service in the world, the oldest in british isles. The lighthouse was probably built in 12th or 13th century, so it is close to 800 years old ! It is 35 metres height and was automized in 1996. Its characteritsic is a flash every 3 seconds.

The coast around the lighthouse is a rocky one with not very high cliffs. But I guess it must a very spectacular place on bad weather ! I took this photo from the coast path east of the lighthouse. It was a grey day, so my graduated ND filter was very useful. I would have liked having a better light, but you never choose the weather !
