Photographer's Note

As the sun starts to set at around 11pm on the shores of lake Puruvesi in eastern Finland the last of some stormy clouds are illuminated by the setting sun.
Lake Puruvesi forms part of the greater lake Saima system in the lake region of eastern Finland. There where over 20000 lakes counted and still counting in this region

Hi Daniel,
The picture taken is really amazing. It seems that clouds are going to touch the water in lake or they are preparing to land on lake. The blue sky above the clouds is giving a contrasted yet beautiful look. The sun in the far and its rays falling on the clouds and lake present a beautiful view.

Oh how I would love to travel to Finland Daniel and enjoy the long summer twilight. It must be a landscape photographers paradise. The sky is quite wonderful in this shot, the blanket of cloud is so beautifully lit by the last rays of the sun and above it we see clear blue. The water looks like beaten silver and gold. Nature is magnificent and you have captured the wonder of it. Lovely. Warm regards rosemary

Hi Daniel,
incredible scene, I really love how the beams of light are under the cloud cover instead of above, I have hardly ever seen this before. The light reflected on the water also adds a lovely warmth, and great range of colours.

Hi Daniel,

Impressive capture, this really is quite a beautiful shot! The evolution of color from yellow to blue is really neat and eye-catching. I love the rippled effect on the underside of the clouds, feels in perfect harmony with those on the lake. The horizon is well placed to let the sunset, the real focus of the moment, shine in its glory. Fantastic mood and atmosphere collected and composed. Bravo! Have a terrific week.
