Photographer's Note

Görlitz is Germany's easternmost town, situated across the Neisse River from its Polish sister city of Zgorzelec. It is very well preserved and survived the Second World War intact.
Until the Second World War Zgorzelec was the eastern district of Görlitz. After German unification border traffic has become easier and in 2004 the Altstadtbrücke (literally old town bridge) between Görlitz and sister city Zgorzelec was rebuilt and officially opened. In 2007 border controls were eliminated.
In my picture you can see the Polish bank of the Neisse taken from the German side.
