Photographer's Note
This old guy walked past me on his way into the town. I said nothing, he said nothing. He just stopped and posed for a photograph and went on his way. We were both happy.
This was taken at the same place as my posting yesterday - Bamiyan Princess.

Another great portrait! The face has a lot of character, and the enormous turban gives this a wonderful feel. Looks like you may have used some fill flash here - if you did it sure worked nicely, reducing te sadows but not eliminating them. Great work!

Hi Jonathan,
On this site I found a poem to illustrate your picture.
Silence, unmoved and rising,
Silence, unmoved and sheltering,
Silence, unmoved and permanent,
Silence, unmoved and brilliant,
Silence, broad and immense like the Ganga,
Silence, unmoved and increasing,
Silence, white and shining like the Moon,
Silence, the Essence of Siva.

Hi Jonathan, A nice and clear shot with excellent details. I enjoy the clear view of the old man's face and the wrinkled under the sun. It looks that many stories behind the face :D. A well taken portrait.

Hola amigo
Bonita foto como a las que nos tienes acostumbrado. No se que tiene esta foto que transmite mucha paz apesar de lo que se pueda vivir en ese pais.
Buen trabajo

How interesting that people would just stop to take a picture of them. This could be portrait heaven. Too bad the light situation did not help much, I suppose it was around noon so the contrast is high. Good job. TFS.

I like this portrait a lot, great composition and colour and of course his face has a lot of character. Using the flash was a good idea, I would never have thought of doing that (especially as my camera doesn't have one). All in all very nice
cheers, David

He looks wise... The barb is beautiful.
Great shot in a hard light.

Wow, the moment must have been quite memorable. It's a beautiful portrait. His face is haunting, especially his eyes. The fill flash added sparkle and brought out his features.

Excellent capture. Really nothing is less. Did you use flash in this portrail?
