Photographer's Note

Having just returned from my travels laden with photos it is difficult to know where to start…

This is a very typical scene of the desert at Wadi Rum, with its impressive sandstone peaks rising from red sand. The landscape is so breathtaking and awe-inspiring that I couldn’t hope to capture its full beauty, but hopefully this at least gives an impression of the place.

After our night camping under a starry sky, I didn’t manage to wake up early enough to witness the desert sunrise, but nevertheless a couple of hours later the colours were still rich and warm. Just a few steps away from our camp, I used these dry shrubs to frame the shot. The light, though already very intense, was a little less harsh than during the main part of the day, and I liked the long shadows. The air was wonderfully clear and fresh and the utter silence, except for the wind, was striking.

No PP except for resizing/resharpening.
