Photographer's Note

I have the opportunity to photograph Jooi, a very sweet Indian girl, in her full regalia. This was taken during our school's Cultural presentation. She is not my student but being the adviser of the Indian Club, asking her to pose for me was not difficult.

I was using my brother's D100 for this shot. I still have to replace my D70. I will wait for the D200 to come out of the market. For now, I have to borrow cameras from friends. I used my macro 16 mm 2.8 for this shot. I always have succes in my portraits with this lens. I can also get really close to my "models".

I already like it when I saw this photo in the thumbnail.. when I clicked it, I even more love it.. The look of those eyes is very sharp.. She looks a bit shy (by trying to cover her lip)... You had captured a beautiful moment.. bravo !!

I was going to say, unusual to see a B&W from you, but I see you've done quite a few, which I've missed. I also missed hearing what happened to your D70, sounds rather drastic. Typical fine shot here.

Good sharpness, contrast and clarity here. The eyes, of course, is what makes the portrait more than anything. They come out beautifully here. The clothing is nice and comes out well. Overall, excellent work.

Great black and white portrait- it makes her eyes stand out so well. I love all the tiny details- the jewelry hanging in front of her forhead, the large dangle earings, the nose ring- its really beautiful. I'm sure all the girls in the school want you to take their portraits- Wonderful work :)
