Photographer's Note
Vama Veche is a village in Romania on the Black Sea coast, near the border with Bulgaria, at 28.3 E longitude, 43.5 N latitude. It is part of the commune of Limanu.
It was founded in 1811 by a few families of Gagauz, originally being named "Ilanlîk". Its current name literally means "Old customs point", named so after the Cadrilater was included in Romania in 1913. In 1940, however, that region was ceded to Bulgaria, and the village was once again near the border.
Even in Communist Romania, Vama Veche had a reputation as a non-mainstream tourist destination, which has only grown since the Romanian Revolution of 1989. During the communist era, concern for border patrol sight lines spared Vama Veche the development that occurred in other Romanian Black Sea resorts. It became a hangout for intellectuals; for reasons that are not exactly clear, the generally repressive regime of Nicolae Ceauşescu chose to tolerate this countercultural oasis, as long as people had their identity papers with them. Accommodations consisted of tents or rooms rented from peasants or fishermen. While camping is theoretically not permitted, to this day, many visitors or semi-permanent residents still stay in tents on the beach.

Hi Isabela.
What an interesting place- the note really gives you a lot of great information about the history of the area. Great perspective- you have captured a lot of different activities going on- tenting, beach, structures, people.

Hi Isabela. Very nice beach and very nice shot. The light is amazing, so clear but not strongly contrasted. It gives the idea of a place sunny, nevertheless the cloudly sky. Very beautiful. I've done again a WS (I think I begin to be a crop-maniac). I've cropped from bottom, to give a pano format. I hope you like it. Thanks. My best wishes for you.
Angel.

Hi Isabela,
This shot just reminds of the human civilization and its progress.
Wheels of cart(fist invention) from the left to boats in right... and then suddenly pops up a car(latest Technology) just infront of the billboard. Well in just a resolution of 800 X 600, the whole story has been written digitally.
I just like the thatched huts, wooden benches, caost without the sea and a beach without water. Great!!!
Salutari,
Rajeev

HI Isabela,
when i started with trek earth u r one of those who first sent their opinions.
I have something to say about this pics. The problems are two.
1.The pics is flat because there is point of attraction in this particular photograph.
2.Then horizontal line divides the pics almost into two equal halfs.Just crop the foreground a little and thus push the horizon up.The pics will be more balanced.
Best wishes,
partha
